Our Team

The Fat Cat Bet team consists of three sportswriters, each with a journalism degree. For all of us, this website is a side hustle, considering that we all have regular 9-to-5 jobs.

That said, the members of our team are currently employed at reputable sports news outlets, which is the reason why we can’t use our real names to introduce ourselves to you.

But, we can use our nicknames, which is actually what we do when talking about each other.

Big Z

“Big Z is the best sportswriter in the world in 2020”

according to Big Z’s grandma

Big Z is the brains behind this site, the man with the plan and the boss of the other Fat Cat Bet members. This guy has been in the betting game for nearly more than a decade, having started placing bets as soon as he’s turned 18.

He’s made some nice money off sports betting, particularly during the Australian Open 2020. Actually, the winnings he’s made from his tennis betting escapades Big Z has decided to invest in this site.

So, thank you Coco Gauff for beating Serena Williams! You’re the one who made it possible for The Fat Cat Bet to see the light of the day.

Mickey the Horse

Despite his nickname, Mickey the Horse knows nothing about horse racing. Instead, he’s a real expert on English soccer or “real football” as he likes to call it.

This is the guy to talk to when you’re looking for Premier League picks, as well as predictions from the Championship, the League One, the League Two, the Scottish Premiership, and all the other leagues from the UK.

Mr Joe Average

The nickname he picked for himself suggests that he’s just another dude, a younger version of Homer Simpson. Well, he kind of is all that. But, what makes this guy above-average is his incredible knowledge on American sports.

Football, hockey, basketball, baseball – this guy is crazy for all those sports. Not only is he covering them in his regular job, but he also spends his spare time watching (and re-watching) NFL, NBA, NHL, and MLB games, as well as reading news about those events.

In addition, our Average Joe also spends hours arguing with handicappers on forums, often spending all night trying to persuade them that he’s right and they’re wrong.
