There are 11 NHL games scheduled for Saturday, April 3, 2021. In this betting preview, we’re going to cover three of those, as well as provide some hockey prop picks. The games in question are the following:

  • Detroit Red Wings vs Tampa Bay Lightning (1:00 pm ET)
  • Pittsburgh Penguins vs Boston Bruins (1:00 pm ET)
  • Chicago Blackhawks vs Nashville Predators (3:00 pm ET)

The main reason why we picked these three games is that the odds on favorites are pretty attractive. Of course, this doesn’t necessarily mean we’re going to suggest backing the favorites. To learn about our NHL prop bet picks for Saturday, just keep reading!

Detroit Red Wings vs Tampa Bay Lightning Prediction

March was very strange month for the 2020 Stanley Cup winner. The Tampa Bay Lightning (25-2-9) won five games straight in the period March 16-23. However, they then lost three games straight in the last week of the month.

Due to three defeats in a row, their top spot in the Central Division is under jeopardy. They currently have the same number of points as the Florida Panthers, as well as one point more than the Carolina Hurricanes. To stay at the top, the Lighting will have to return to winning ways.

Luckily for them, this Saturday, they’re taking on the worst team in the division. The Detroit Red Wings (12-5-21) have only 29 points, which is 23 points fewer than the Lightning. Still, they haven’t been too bad over the last couple of weeks. In fact, in the previous four rounds, they collected five points.

For this reason, you better be cautious about putting money against them. Another reason is that in the previous Red Wings vs Lightning duel, the team from Michigan won 6-4. Still, we do think the Lightning are going to win this game, but probably not with a large goal difference.

Detroit Red Wings vs Tampa Bay Lightning Prop Picks:

  • Tampa Bay Lightning To Win 5-3
  • Detroit Red Wings – Total Goals Over 2.5
  • Detroit Red Wings – Puck Line +2.5

Pittsburgh Penguins vs Boston Bruins Prediction

The Pittsburgh Penguins have been in a raging streak, with five straight wins. The Boston Bruins? Not so much. In fact, the team from Massachusetts won only five points in the previous five rounds. We say “only” because this team has postseason plans.

The Bruins are in the 4th place in the East, with three points more than the Flyers and Rangers. Furthermore, they’ve played two games fewer than the Flyers and three games fewer than the Rangers. What this all means is that they have a really good chance of qualifying for the playoffs, which they should grab. Unless they mess everything up real bad.

Getting at least a point in the Pittsburgh Penguins vs Boston Bruins game this Saturday could aid their playoff efforts a lot. The trouble is that the Pens are going to be super-motivated to win the game, the reason being that they got a chance to get to the top of the East Division in near future.

We think these teams are pretty similar in terms of player quality. For that reason, we expect a really close game on Saturday afternoon, which could easily go to overtime. When it comes to goals, we expect to see a decent number. It’s not only because both teams will be fired up in this game, but also for the fact that both teams have injured goalies.

Boston will (probably) be without Tukka Rusk, while Tristan Jarry might miss for Pittsburgh. Still, to be completely fair, these guys have been out for a few days already and their replacements have been doing a pretty decent job.

Pittsburgh Penguins vs Boston Bruins Prop Bets:

  • Game to Go Overtime
  • Total Goals – Over 5.5

Chicago Blackhawks vs Nashville Predators Prediction

An interesting thing about Chicago is that this team has been playing well against underdogs, while almost always losing to strong favorites. The trouble is that you can’t think of Nashville neither as the favorite nor the underdog in this game.

The thing is that the Blackhawks and Predators are pretty similar. They have the same number of points and are the competing for the 4th place in the Central Division. Furthermore, both teams are coming off a loss in the previous round. On top of everything, both teams have plenty of players on the injury list.

Because they’re very similar, it’s no surprise that two of the four games they’ve played so far in 2021 were decided after the regulation time. Their most recent game saw the Predators winning by one goal difference. In fact, the team from Nashville has won each of those four games. Maybe it’s time for Chicago to get two points?

We can’t be sure of that, given the fact that the Blackhawks have been playing very badly lately. Nevertheless, we are sure they’re going to give the Predators a rough time on Saturday.

Chicago Blackhawks vs Nashville Predators Prop Bets:

  • Game to go Overtime
  • Chicago Blackhawks – Puck Line +1.5
