Jon Jones Prop Bets and Futures to Watch Out For in 2021
With Francis Ngannou becoming the new UFC Heavyweight Champion, the question is who will he have to defend his title from. As you’d expect, there’s a lot of speculation going on, but the fact is that some online sportsbooks have already released Jon Jones prop bets and futures focused on the title fight with Ngannou.
As a reminder, the #1 fighter in the UFC pound-for-pound ranking has moved up a weight class from Light Heavyweight and is surely expected to challenge the championship belt. The trouble is that he shares the same desire with plenty of other heavyweights, including Ciryl Gane, Curtis Blades, and so on.
Perhaps “Bones” will have to make his heavyweight debut first before getting a title shot? No one can say for certain at this point. Still, that is exactly what UFC futures betting is interesting – anything can happen by 31st December!

Even though he’s never fought a heavyweight fight, Jon Jones could be fast-tracked by the UFC to the title fight against Ngannou. The reason? He’s the very best UFC fighter in history, with no losses suffered in the octagon. Plus, Ngannou has already expressed his desire to take on Jones, adding that he doesn’t think Stipe Miocic trilogy is needed.
There’s one thing that doesn’t go in the favor of the Ngannou vs. Jones fight happening this year. Jon Jones is famously having a beef with the organizations and especially its president. The UFC boss Dana White and Jon Jones had numerous feuds in the past, mostly about the money.
In 2020, White said the Ngannou vs. Jones fight is not going to happen under the conditions set up by Jon Jones. However, things have changed quite a lot since then and the UFC boss could be forced to change his mind, the reason being public demand.
Ngannou is now the champ and a super-fight win the arguably best MMA fighter in history would bring a lot of money to the organization from PPV and sponsorship deals.
If it were to happen by the end of the year, oddsmakers think it would be Ngannou to win. At this point, we have to agree. However, even if the fighters agree to a fight, the bout would probably happen later in the year. That means that Jon Jones would have plenty of time to prepare.
We believe that Jones is a much better fighter than Ngannou, at least from a technical point of view. Still, the fact is that Ngannou is bigger and stronger than him. To take the UFC Heavyweight Championship belt from him, Jones will have to bulk up. But, to be fair, he’s already started hitting the gym hard as you can see from his Twitter post.

Francis Ngannou won the UFC Heavyweight title on March 27, 2021 with a brutal knockout against Stipe Miocic. Before losing the championship belt, Miocic had managed to defend the title on multiple occasions. In fact, from 2016 (when he won it for the first time) to 2021, Miocic only lost to Daniel Cormier, while defending the title against Werdum, Overeem, dos Santos, and even Ngannou.
He also managed to retrieve the title after DC beat him in 2018. Obviously, Stipe is very fond of the belt and will want to get it back ASAP. In fact, Ngannou vs Miocic pt. 3 seems likely. We’ll even go as far as to say that it’s going to be the next UFC heavyweight title fight.
Sure, everyone would loke to see Jon Jones taking a shot at the title, but there’s risk that him and Dana White will not come to an agreement money-wise.
So, if Ngannou vs Miocic pt. 3 happens by the end of the year, who’s going to enter 2022 as the UFC Heavyweight champ? We think Stipe Miocic.
FatCatBet’s Prediction:
- Stipe Miocic

We think that Stipe Miocic is going to try to get back the championship belt by the end of the year. If he manages to do it, then it’s very likely we’re going to see a Jon Jones vs. Miocic bout in 2022. If Ngannou defends his title, then Jon Jones might take on him.
In fact, those two scenarios seem vey likely to happen. With Ngannou vs. Miocic happening this year, Jon Jones would have time to make his heavyweight debut, thus preparing himself for the title fight in 2021.
And if, for some reason, Ngannou vs. Miocic pt. 3 doesn’t happen, we could see another super-fight. Miocic could decide to take on Jon Jones, which would surely bring a lot of money into his piggybank.
No matter when, but if the Jon Jones vs. Miocic fight happens, the heavyweight newcomer could get a win. In fact, he seems like someone who could repeat what Ngannou did to Miocic. That’s why our Jon Jones prop bet suggestion is that he’ll win this fight by knockout.
FatCatBet’s Prediction:
- Jon Jones by Knockout

There’s a lot of money to be gained from Jon Jones returning to the UFC. This goes double if he gets a title shot in his first UFC Heavyweight fight. So, is Ngannou vs Jones going to be Jon Jones’ next fight?
Well, that might not happen for several reasons. First of all, Stipe Miocic will probably want to get back the title that was in his possession for nearly five years.
Secondly, Jon Jones might not be ready to fight such a big and powerful fighter like Ngannou. Instead, he could make his heavyweight debut against a fighter he’s more likely to beat.
Jon’s Next Fight?
- Curtis Blaydes
