Furthermore, the Blue Jackets are going to be without a couple of their crucial skaters in both of the games they’re playing against Dallas – Boone Jenner, Emil Bemstrom, and Zach Werenski.

After the two-game clash with the Blue Jackets, the Stars take on the Red Wings, the worst team in the division. The best thing is that there are going to be four straight Dallas vs Detroit matchups in a row. What this means is that the Stars could easily get 8 points in that period.

Then, the schedule is getting ugly – they get to face the Hurricanes, Lightning, Predators, Panthers, and Blackhawks.

The good news is that Tyler Seguin is likely to return to ice in time to help the Stars do well against those teams.

Tyler Seguin Returns in May (or Even Sooner!)

Seguin was, by far, Dallas’ best player in 2020. In the regular season, he scored 17 goals, while also making 33 assists. As a result, he collected a total of 50 points.

Then in the postseason, we saw him scoring twice, as well as making 11 assists. Mostly thanks to this guy did the Stars reach the Stanley Cup Final for the first time in two decades.

But then, he decided to get hip surgery to get rid of a problem that had been bugging him throughout the season. After getting an arthroscopy and labral repair, he had to undergo a long recovery.

After spending more than five months off ice, Seguin is expected to return to the squad in the final part of the regular season.

Dallas Stars Reached the Stanley Cup Final Last Year

Tyler Seguin was the man most responsible for Dallas getting to the 2020 Stanley Cup Final. However, hockey is not a one-man game.

The good news is that Dallas’ roster is packed with amazing players. Even though they haven’t been as impressive as with Seguin on ice, the Stars did put on many good performances this season.

Their goalies, Khodubin and Oettinger have been pretty reliable, each with 0.91+ save percentage.

When defensemen are concerned, Miro Heiskanen seems to be turning into a real superstar. The 21-year-old has managed to extend his fantastic form from the 2020 postseason into the 2021 regular season.  

As a reminder, Heiskanen was this team’s player with the most points in the playoffs last year.

Scoring-wise, Dallas has been relying on team spirit in 2021. At the moment of writing, there are 22 players who have scored at least a goal this season (out of 24 skaters).

Denis Guryanov, who was Dallas’ scoring leader in the regular season 2019-20, hasn’t been scoring too many goals this year. Still, we know what he’s capable of.

Instead of Guryanov, the role of the most lethal Dallas player has been taken over by alternate captain Joe Pavelski.

The 36-year-old forward has been in a sensational form this season, especially when his team was facing favorites. He used his experience to help Dallas beat such heavyweights as Tampa Bay (scored once, made two assists), Florida (two assists), and so on.

Pavelski also did very well against Nashville in the two games played at the very start of the season. He scored three goals in those two games, while also recording four assists.

The reason why these stats are important is that Nashville is the team that’s currently in the #4 place, which is where Dallas wants to get before the end of the season.
