Both teams are coming into the NFL Week 5 with a 100% winning record, the only difference is that the Bills have played one game fewer. Whose record is going to get tarnished on Tuesday evening when the Chiefs @ Bills game is taking place?

A Weekend Without Football for the Bills

The Bills haven’t played a football game since October 4. They were supposed to face the Titans on Sunday, but that game was first postponed for Tuesday, before ending up cancelled.

The reason for this was that the Titans have huge problems with COVID-19, the result of which was the postponement of the Bills @ Titans game from Sunday to Tuesday.

No other NFL franchise has seen more COVId-19 tests coming back positive than the Tennessee Titans. Nine of those belong to the club personnel, while a total of 14 players have tested positive.

100% Winning Record for Both Teams

The Buffalo Bills have won every single game they played this season, namely, against the New York Jets, Miami Dolphins, Los Angeles Rams, and Las Vegas Raiders. In each of those games, the Bills were the favorites. This time, however, that is not the case. In the Chiefs @ Bills game, the team from Kansas City is the favorite.

The odds are currently around -200 on the Chiefs win, which seems like a pretty good value, at least at first glance. Here are some facts that explain why the bookmakers think the Chiefs are the favorites:

  • This team has won the Super Bowl LIV in February this year
  • Patrick Mahomes II is their quarterback, the most expensive NFL player
  • The Chiefs have won all of their games in the 2020 season
  • They even beat the Patriots in Week 4

Sounds good enough for you to place a bet on them? Well, think twice because each of the aforementioned facts comes with a catch.

Why the Chiefs Aren’t Big Favorites?

They did win the 2020 Super Bowl, but it was more than eight months ago. Secondly, Mahomes is a fantastic player, but this season, he’s #9 when it comes to passing yards (at the moment of writing on Saturday, October 10) and #5 when it comes to TD passes. Josh Allen of the Bills is better in both those areas, despite playing one game fewer than Mahomes.

Third point – Chiefs have won all of their games, but they were far from impressive. At the moment of writing, they have four wins in their 2020 portfolio, namely, against the Houston Texans (34-20), the Los Angeles Chargers (23-20 after OT), Baltimore Ravens (34-20), and New England Patriots (26-10).

The game against the Patriots might seem like their biggest success of the season so far, but in that game, the Pats were without their #1 choice QB. Cam Newton had tested positive for COVID-19 a few days before the game, which explains why they scored only 10 points against the Chiefs.

Chiefs @ Bills Prediction

The Bills have had more time to prepare for this game, not to mention that their players are fresher and more rested than the opposition. The quality might be slightly on the side of the Chiefs, but the form isn’t.

I can see the Bills winning this one, but if you’re worried, feel free to go with the spread. It’s going to be a close game!

Our Pick:

  • Bills
