Bayern Munich vs. Monaco EuroLeague Preview – Betting Picks for January 13, 2022
The COVID-19 pandemic keeps wreaking havoc in the EuroLeague. Originally, five games were scheduled for Thursday, January 13, 2022, but due to the coronavirus outbreak, three games ended up postponed – Zalgiris Kaunas vs. Crvena Zvezda and Olympiacos vs. Zenit Petersburg.
The other three have been given the green light by the EuroLeague officials. The matchups in question are the following:
- Bayern Munich vs. Monaco
- Barcelona vs Anadolu Efes
I will now do a better preview for one of those games, in which I’ll dissect the odds, analyze team forms, and so on. The game in question is Bayern Munich vs. Monaco.
EuroLeague Prediction: Monaco to Beat Bayern Munich
On Tuesday evening local time, Bayern Munich defeated Zalgiris Kaunas at home. The score was 74-65, meaning that the German team just managed to cover the 8.5-point spread set by the sportsbooks.
It wasn’t an impressive performance but Andrea Trinchieri’s boys recorded an important win. As a result, they’re now 8-10 in the EuroLeague, sitting just three spots below the playoff zone. If they wish to climb there, they will need to continue winning.
The same day when Bayern got its eighth win of the season, Monaco was supposed to take on UNICS Kazan. However, that game ended up postponed due to a COVID outbreak in the Russian team. For this reason, Monaco is still without a single EuroLeague game played in 2022.
This, however, isn’t a bad thing. It means that they’ve had plenty of time to prepare for the clash with Bayern. In fact, the last time they played a competitive game was on Sunday. And it was a relatively easy game – Monaco defeated Le Portel 79-67 in the French LNB Basketball League.
The win in the French league was Monaco’s third straight win. Their drive started on the second day of Christmas and includes on EuroLeague win. It happened on December 29, when we saw them beating Maccabi Tel Aviv at home 82-76.
That was Monaco’s seventh win in the EuroLeague, as well as their second victory in this competition since Saša Obradović took over as their coach.
The 52-year-old has been in the coaching business for over 16 years, spending most of his time in Germany where he coached RheinEnergie Köln and Alba Berlin. That said, Obradović has plenty of experience when it comes to facing Bayern, which could prove pivotal in Thursday’s game.
