Adam Amarasinghe vs Sam Creasey Fight Preview

Both fighters are coming to London after winning their previous fights. Adam Amarasinghe won against Connor Hignett at Cage Warriors 114 in September. His opponent, Sam Creasey, beat Nicolas Leblond at Cage Warriors 116, just a few days later.

Although Amarasinghe has been pretty impressive in his last couple of fights, the fact is that he hasn’t faced as tough opponents as Creasey. For example, Amarasinghe has never won against a fighter who’s in the Top 10 active UK/Ireland Pro Flyweights. At least, not yet.

He’s going to take get an opportunity to do so on December 10 at the Cage Warriors 117.

Following His Older Brother’s Footsteps

Although Amarasinghe is the younger brother of Dean Amasinger, a UK fighter whose greatest achievement in his career was getting into The Ultimate Fighter. He appeared in the Season 9 of the series, winning against Alex Reid and losing to DaMarques Johnson.

Dean won a fair share of his professional fights by punches, which also seems to be his brother’s favorite method of victory.

I feel strongest with my striking but I really believe I have a few more gears to go up and show everyone… I feel stronger than a lot of the guys that I have fought at bantamweight and definitely at flyweight.

Adam won three of his six wins this way. Two of those happened while he was fighting in the Bantamweight Division. Speaking of which, he moved to the Flyweight after losing to Liam Gittins about a year ago.

Since moving to flyweight, his winning percentage has been 100%.

Is Amarasinghe Ready to Take on #2 in Pro Flyweight Rankings?

Sam Creasey is currently in second place in the United Kingdom & Ireland Pro Men’s Flyweight Rankings. His opponent, Adam Amarasinghe is in the #14 place. Not bad, but what’s got to worry Amarasinghe is that he’s never fought such a high-ranked fighter before.

The best-ranked fighter he took on is Liam “Nightmare” Gittins, who’s currently #8 in that list. They fought in November 2019, and Nightmare won it by unanimous decision, causing Amarasinghe his second loss of the career.

Amarasinghe’s first loss happened against Scott “Boom Boom” Malone, who’s currently competing in the Bantamweight Division, where he’s 16th out of 145 active fighters.

All the fighters that Amarasinghe won against are currently ranked out of the Top 10. Those are, namely:

  • Connor “Hand Grenade” Hignett (#15)
  • Jake Bond (#41)
  • Darren O’Gorman (#24)
  • Aaron Laleye (#47)
  • Andrew Mendes (Retired)
  • Alexander Bilobrovka (retired)

Not too impressive, you must agree, but Amarasinghe’s performances against those fighters were pretty impressive. For instance, we saw his incredible finish at CW113 against Jake Bond.

Urai to Put Himself in the Title Conversation

The 32-year-old Sam Creasey has long been discussed as one of the title prospects, as evident from the fact that he’s currently #2 in the Flyweight Rankings.

He would probably be challenging the championship belt right now if it weren’t for his defeat to Samir Faiddine in June 2019. He lost by KO in Round 3 in that fight.

The good news for his fans is that Urai bounced back with a win over Nicolas Leblond. The fight took place as a part of CW116, with Creasey being a pre-fight favorite. He did win that bout, but it was pretty uncertain until the very end. Eventually, the judges awarded Urai the victory.

One takeaway from that fight is that Sam Creasey is a smart fighter, who doesn’t rush and make unnecessary risks.

Adam Amarasinghe vs Sam Creasey Prediction

Apex is a powerful fighter, who has the ability to knock-out literally any opponent from the Flyweight Division. The trouble is that in the Adam Amarasinghe vs Sam Creasey, he is taking on an experienced fighter who never seems to lose his focus.

Without fans to distract him, Creasey looks capable of making the fight go the distance. If such a scenario happens, it’s likely he is going to get himself a win.

Our Adam Amarasinghe vs Sam Creasey Picks:

  • Adam Amarasinghe vs Sam Creasey Fight to Go the Distance
