Real Madrid’s squad is more than 15 times more expensive than the one of Celta, according to data I found at Transfermarkt. There are 18 Real Madrid Players (out of 23) whose value is higher than the value of Celta’s most expensive player Oscar Mungueza, whose price tag is €12M.
Apart from having much better players, Real Madrid also has a much better manager. As per Coach Power Rankings by GiveMeSport, Carlo Ancelotti is the world’s No.2 best coach in 2024, just behind Pepe Guardiola.
Celta vs. Real Madrid Preview
Celta are flying relatively high in the 2024-25 La Liga at the moment. They’re 9th in the league, but that’s because they’ve had a relatively easy schedule so far.
They have played against three teams that finished in the Top 5 last season – Atletico Madrid, Athletic Bilbao, and Girona. They lost against the first two of those, while drawing 1:1 with Girona.
Given that their wins happened against teams that aren’t expected to do much this season, I can safely say that the tie with Girona was their best performance of the first three months of the season.
Meanwhile, last season’s champions, Real Madrid, are currently second in the standings with just three points fewer than Barcelona. The reason is that they dropped some points early on in the season – they played 1:1 with Mallorca and Las Palmas.
The same result happened in the Madrid Derby against Atleti. What’s interesting is that all three of those draws happened on the road.
Los Blancos are without a loss in La Liga, but they did suffer a defeat in the previous round of the UEFA Champions League. They lost 1:0 against Lille two weeks ago, which is why they’ll probably want to go all-in against Dortmund next Tuesday.
Predicted Lineups
Celta:

Celta will miss a couple of key men on Saturday, including their arguable crucial player in the 2024-25 season, Iago Aspas. The playmaker will be gravely missed and so will defensive midfielder Ilaix Moriba, as well as Jailson and possibly even Luca de la Torre.
Here’s the list of all of Celta’s players who will miss the October 19 game:
- Iago Aspas (suspension)
- Ilaix Moriba (suspension)
- Jailson (injury)
- Luca de la Torre (injury)
Real Madrid:

As you can see, some big stars are missing there, starting with Kylian Mbappe. I think Carlo Ancelotti will let him rest so that he would be 100% fit and ready for the clash with Dortmund. I do, however, think, Mbappe will play in the second half, just so that he gets into a mood for playing soccer after missing a few weeks due to injury.
I also think Ancelotti will give Real Madrid captain Luka Modric a day off as the 39-year-old has had a very busy schedule so far, both in La Liga and in international games with Croatia.
Other Real Madrid players that will miss Saturday’s game include the following:
- Dani Ceballos (injury)
- Daniel Carvajal (injury)
- David Alaba (injury)
- Brahim Diaz (injury)

Celta vs. Real Madrid Prediction
I think Real Madrid will win this game, but I don’t think it’s going to be a blowout win. Celta have no other option but to defend with all they’ve got as their offense doesn’t look very lethal and their central line is missing its key parts.
They’re going to defend ferociously, but that won’t stop Los Blancos from finding the net. I’m just not sure how many goals will they score, but I’m confident they will score at least one.
Pick:
- Real Madrid
