2021 Oscar Betting Picks, Predictions & Lines (April 25)
“And the Oscar Goes Tooooo” – We don’t know yet, no one does. But, everyone has their favorites and some are so confident of their picks that they’ve decided to put their money on Oscar bets.
Yes, that’s possible – you can bet on Oscars. In fact, this is one of the prop bets that are getting really popular lately. There are several reasons for that, including:
- Oscar bets can be very lucrative, with odds on favorites usually being greater than -110
- Betting on Oscars gives you an incentive to watch movies that would probably fly under your radar (e.g., foreign movies, documentaries, etc.)
- Oscars betting can enhance viewers’ experience during the Academy Awards ceremony
The biggest downside of Oscar bets is that you cannot find them in most US-based sportsbooks. In many states, TV prop bets are not allowed. The reason why this is the case is that the information about the winners could get leaked. Although there’s no evidence that such a thing has ever happened, in theory, it could happen.
The good news is that 2021 Oscars betting is possible in New Jersey and Indiana. It’s also possible in many places outside the United States, in both land-based and online sportsbooks. On top of that, there are also some offshore betting sites that work with these sorts of bets.
If you’ve managed to find a legal platform where people from your country/state/area can bet on props, you’re probably wondering which Oscar bets should you make. Luckily for you, the FatCatBet is here to help!
2021 Best Picture Betting
Best Picture Odds
- Nomadland odds: -300 (1/3)
- The Trial of the Chicago 7 odds: +550 (11/2)
- Promising Young Woman odds: +900 (9/1)
- Minari odds: +1000 (10/1)
- Mank odds: +1200 (12/1)
- Judas and the Black Messiah odds: +1600 (16/1)
- The Sound of Metal odds: +2500 (25/1)
- The Father odds: +6600 (66/1)
FatCatBet’s ‘Best Picture’ Prediction
We think it’s pretty obvious why the odds on Nomadland are so short – this film is going to win the Oscar. The story about a bankrupt woman leading the life of a modern-day nomad in the American West has already won several major awards, including the Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture – Drama.
On top of that, Nomadland holds a 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes when critics’ reviews are concerned. Its audience score is somewhat lower, 81%. In fact, viewers seem not to be thrilled with this movie, as evident from the fact that its IMDB score is only 7.6 at the moment of writing. Still, this shouldn’t worry Oscars bettors much – it’s the 8,469 film professionals who decide who wins the Best Picture Award.
Our ‘Best Picture’ Pick:
- Nomadland
Best Leading Actress
Best Actress Odds
- Carey Mulligan odds: -110 (10/11)
- Andra Day odds: +300 (3/1)
- Frances McDormand odds: +333 (10/3)
- Vanessa Kirby odds: +600 (6/1)
- Viola Davis odds: +1000 (10/1)
FatCatBet’s ‘Best Actress’ Prediction
Carey Mulligan stole the show in Promising Young Woman. The movie probably isn’t going to win the Best Feature Award, but an Oscar might come its way. In fact, it’s very likely that Mulligan is going to win the Academy Award, which slipped from her hands once already – Oscar for An Education in 2008.
Our ‘Best Actress’ Pick:
- Carey Mulligan
Leading Actor Betting
Best Actor Odds
- Chadwick Boseman odds: -1400 (1/14)
- Anthony Hopkins odds: +600 (6/1)
- Riz Ahmed odds: +700 (7/1)
- Steven Yuen odds +1600 (16/1)
- Gary Oldman odds: +2500 (25/1)
FatCatBet’s ‘Best Actor’ Prediction
Of all the Oscars bets, this one seems like the biggest banker. It would be a real shock if the late Chadwick Boseman didn’t win it posthumously. He was nothing short of brilliant in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, playing the role of Levee Green, a member of Ma Rainey’s band in 1920s Chicago.
Our ‘Best Actor’ Pick:
- Chadwick Boseman
Best Supporting Actress
Supporting Actress Odds
- Youn Yuh-jung +163 (13/8)
- Maria Bakalova +200 (2/1)
- Glenn Close +450 (9/2)
- Amanda Seyfred +750 (15/2)
- Olivia Colman +900 (9/1)
FatCatBet’s ‘Best Supporting Actress’ Prediction
This seems like the most difficult category to predict. Oddsmakers favor Youn Yuh-jung to win the Award for her role in Minari, but we think young Bulgarian actress Maria Bakalova deserves recognition.
She was fantastic in Borat Subsequent Moviefilm and her role of Borat’s daughter’s been praised by critics. We’d love to see her winning the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress.
Our ‘Best Supporting Actress’ Pick:
- Maria Bakalova
Best Supporting Actor
Supporting Actor Odds
- Daniel Kaluuya -400 (1/4)
- Sacha Baron Cohen +300 (3/1)
- Leslie Odom Jr. +500 (5/1)
- Paul Raci +1400 (14/1)
- Lakeith Standfield +2000 (20/1)
FatCatBet’s ‘Best Supporting Actor’ Prediction
If Sacha Baron Cohen didn’t get an Oscar for his portrayal of Borat in 2007, we really don’t see him getting an Academy Award in 2021. Sure, it’s not for his role in Borat 2 but in The Trial of the Chicago 7.
Nevertheless, we just can’t see him winning. Instead, we’re pretty sure the Oscar will go to Daniel Kaluuya for the role of a leader of Black Panthers Fred Hampton in Judas and the Black Messiah.
Our ‘Best Supporting Actor’ Pick:
- Daniel Kaluuya
Best Director Betting
Oscar Director Odds
- Chloe Zhao -600 (1/6)
- David Fincher +650 (13/2)
- Lee Isaac Chung +1200 (12/1)
- Emerald Fennell +1400 (14/1)
- Thomas Vinterberg +2000 (20/1)
FatCatBet’s ‘Best Director’ Prediction
The Best Film and Best Director Oscars usually go hand-in-hand. As we believe Nomadland is going to get the Academy Award for the Best Picture, we also think its director will win the Oscar too. And the director’s name is Chloe Zhao.
Our ‘Best Director’ Pick:
- Chloe Zhao
Best Animated Feature
Best Animated Film Odds
- Soul -600 (1/6)
- Wolfwalkers +500 (5/1)
- Onward +1400 (14/1)
- Over the Moon +2000 (20/1)
- A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon +2500 (25/1)
FatCatBet’s ‘Best Animated Feature’ Prediction
All of the nominated movies deserve a lot of praise but Soul is favored for a reason. The first Pixar movie with an African-American protagonist is a powerful story with incredible graphics and an ensemble cast of voice actors. We’d really be surprised if it didn’t win the Oscar in this category.
Our ‘Best Animated Film’ Pick:
- Soul
2021 Best Foreign Movie
Best International Feature Odds
- Another Round odds: -300 (1/3)
- Quo Vadis, Aida? odds: +300 (3/1)
- Collective odds: +700 (7/1)
- Better Days odds: +1200 (12/1)
- The Man Who Sold His Skin odds: +1800 (18/1)
FatCatBet’s ‘Best Foreign Film’ Prediction
World cinema is getting better and better every year. Sure, you might think that nothing can beat Parasite, a South Korean masterpiece that won the Best Feature Award at 2020 Oscars, but there are some breathtaking foreign movies that definitely shouldn’t be overlooked.
Life-celebrating Another Round and empathy-inducing Quo Vadis, Aida? are two main favorites. Online sportsbooks favor the Danish movie. It’s creative, inspiring, and super-interesting. Still, the emotion that Quo Vadis, Aida? manages to awake makes it one of the best war movies (or should we say, anti-war?) not only of the year but all-time.
Our ‘Best Foreign Movie’ Pick:
- Quo Vadis, Aida?
2021 Best Documentary Feature
Best Documentary Odds
- Time -125 (4/5)
- Collective +200 (2/1)
- My Octopus Teacher +600 (6/1)
- Crip Camp +650 (13/2)
- The Mole Agent +1000 (20/1)
FatCatBet’s ‘Best Documentary Oscar’ Prediction
Romanian documentary Collective is nominated both for the Best Foreign Film and for the Best Documentary Feature. We don’t think it’s going to win the first one, but we can see it winning in the second category.
Our ‘Best Documentary’ Pick:
- Collective
